- Luis
V. Amador Medallion Award
-
- The I-I
District in 1992-93 created the Luis V. Amador Medallion Award.
This award honors the contributions of our Medical Director and
allows a Divisional Council to extend special recognition to
an individual who has demonstrated outstanding service within
his or her community. A contribution of $500.00 is made to the
endowment fund of the Spastic Paralysis Research Foundation in
the name of the recipient. Each Division may award one medallion
during an administrative year. Complete details are available
from the District Office.
Successful accomplishments from past and current grants allow
us to look forward to more spectacular breakthroughs in the years
ahead. Let's hope each Kiwanian and each Club will expand their
involvement in Our Finest Project, the Foundation.

-
- ln 1952,
the District initiated this project, too large for any one Club
or one Division. Since then the Foundation has invested over
four million dollars in basic Research Grants. These grants have
all been approved by the Board and our Medical Director, Neurological
Surgeon Dr. Luis V. Amador, since the Foundation's inception.
Current grants are for $20,000 a year for a period of five years,
a total of $100,000. This commitment is met by the continued
contribution from individual members and increased contributions
of memorials.
